Lowe's Home Center is set to return to Little Rock.
The home improvement retailer this week purchased about 17 acres from four sellers at the northwest corner of Kanis and Bowman roads in Little Rock in deals totaling about $6.15 million.
The biggest parcel — 9.9 acres — sold for $3.95 million, according to Colliers International Arkansas, which represented the seller.
"This location enjoys great visibility and access at Kanis and Bowman and is convenient to a large residential population," Isaac Smith, principal at Colliers International Arkansas, said in a news release. "It should be a great addition to Little Rock's retail landscape."
Real estate records show AJMATS-DT AR, a limited liability company controlled by members of the LaFrance family, as the seller of the 9.9 acre parcel. Colliers said the sale closed Wednesday.
The three other parcels, which Lowe's purchased for a total of about $2.2 million, were owned by HCB Ltd. Partnership, AH Development and Sam’s Real Estate Business Trust.
Elrod Real Estate of Little Rock represented Lowe's in each of the transactions.
Records on file with the city of Little Rock show plans for a $5.8 million project, including a 113,941-SF building. Calls and emails to Lowe's representatives were not returned Thursday afternoon.
The site is next door to Hanks & More Fine Furniture and south of a Sam's Club and Wal-Mart Supercenter. Competitor Home Depot has a store a mile away at 12610 Chenal Parkway.
This would be the first Lowe's in Little Rock since the 1980s, when the retailer had a store on a stretch of Asher Avenue that is now part of Col. Glenn Road. Lowe's, based in Mooresville, North Carolina, now has a store at 4330 McCain Blvd. in North Little Rock, one of 20 in Arkansas.
