Report: Arkansas Home Sales Flat in October

Home sales in Arkansas were flat in October compared with the same month last year, according to a report released Friday by the Arkansas Realtors Association.

The ARA reported 2,734 home sales in October in the 43-county area it surveys, up 0.5 percent from the same month last year. Year to date, home sales in Arkansas are at 28,523, up nearly 8 percent from the same time last year.

Of the top five counties selling the most homes, Sebastian County saw the biggest increase in activity, with 161 homes sold in October, up nearly 30 percent from the same month last year.

Benton County sold 522 homes, up about 19 percent. Pulaski County sold 413 homes, up nearly 2 percent. Washington County sold 241 homes, down 16 percent. Saline County sold 144 homes, down 12 percent.

Sebastian County was also the year-to-date leader for increases in home sales activity, with 1,580 homes sold, up 29 percent from the same time last year. Benton County was the busiest for home sales, with 5,151 homes sold, up about 15 percent from the same time last year.

Year to date, Pulaski County sold 4,515 homes, up about 6 percent; Washington County sold 3,049 homes, up 13 percent; and Saline County sold 1,549 homes, down 2 percent.

The statewide average price was $171,008 in October, up about 6 percent from the same month last year. Year to date, the average price was $166,303, up 2 percent from the same time last year.
